Incinerator bin

Well I'm glad you've educated me on the fire triangle and that houses are normally warmer than outside.

All it takes is the wind to catch a hot ember and someone not to be paying attention and the fence would be up in smoke, keeping a fire contained for the sake of a £10 incinerator and taking sensible precautions like not setting it up next to a fence is just common sense.

To get rid of the ashes just dig a hole and dump them in or pour them on the ground and just turn the soil over depending on how windy it is or damp them down and scoop them into bin bags.

Sorry, should have replied sooner. Thanks. I swished the ashes a bit today and it looks like there's enough room in there to finish off my last two bags. They've compressed right down, loads of room for the next lot. Then I'll let it cool down over a day or so and try and scoop into bags as carefully as possible without making too much mess. But I know I'm still going to be covered in powder. Even today my red rubber gloves got completely whitened.


EDIT: Blimey, I put my rubber gloved hand into the ashes (no flames, glowing or smoke) to check if some paper that still looked intact would crumble, and it started to burn the glove. 3 days later and the ashes are still hot. I think when I'm ready to bag up I'll put water over it.

Do what my dad does and put the 'out' pipe of an old Henry into the bottom of one (ooer) and make a real furniss!

Had two of those from B&Q. Mine rusted after a winter outside to the point it fell in half

I emptied my incinerator into my wheelie bin after it went out about 4 hours earlier..

Was chatting to my neighbour and he said can you smell smoke? I looked back at my bin and saw it bellowing smoke. I realise why they actually say no not Ashes on the bin.

I had to hose it down before it melted bottom out.

So yeah I can confirm Ashes stay hot lol.

I saw some of these incinerator bins in Aldi not long ago for tenner and cheaper than the DIY sheds. Thinking about getting one for when I tidy the garden up before the winter.

Can't wait for the neighbours to moan but I'll just tell them to think of it like a barbeque. Sick of smelling stinky barbecues all summer and having to shut my windows.

That'll learn them.
