Increasing wireless signal

Hi,

Our router is connected on the other side of our house, and for the life of me i cant get signal in my bedroom, im using a wireless adapter which connects to a long usb cable, is there anything i can make or do that can increase the signal power?

Would making a big tin foil dome help?

You could reduce the speed of the wireless thus giving it a better range.

somebody told me to try a wireless access point, ment to extend the range further,

so gonna give it a go this weekend

its already at 12mbps and very low, how would i reduce the speed of my card?

What is the speed of the wireless on your router? I'd recommend popping it to 11mbps which will give you a better range.

You can change the speed of your wireless card via xp but I can't remember exactly how to do it. :S

Hey you know whats really weird which may help ....?? I have a big PA speaker system in my room and if I put the wireless aerial form my computer next to it the signal strength go shoots up and is more stable ??? weird ! but good

so as a total random test put a speaker in front of the aerial from your computer ???

had a similar issue with the kids pc and bought a better antenna with lead and magnetic base from a local electronics store MA****S
got full coverage now and kids are happy
