Incredible Value or what?

I lapped the cpus and heatsinks and then modified the fans to quieten it down a bit as it's not being used in rack so heat isn't so much of an issue.

Can I ask what you did to modify the fans...
I was thinking of pulling every 2nd one...As I will only have it going 2 hours a day (messing about, nothing major)

Not sure what result that would have - the HP servers I've used would report a fan failure and refuse to boot if you did that.
I fitted in-line resistors to mine to reduce RPMs (and therefore noise) after noting that the recommended HP solution was exactly that but using an expensive cable attachment!
 
Quick question for those who have installed ESXi on these.

What are they reporting for number of CPUs and cores?
I was looking at my install on my PC and realised the licence says for 1CPU only. Not sure if that is because it is all the PC has or that the free licences do not support multi CPUs.
