Indie's Training Log - Wannabe NFL Superstar?

Went on Friday but can't remember what was actually lifted!
Many squats, lunges, presses were done though!

more progress with the knees though. We had training on Sunday and had a bit of 1-2-1 time with one of my coaches, who showed me some great stretches for my legs. been doing the golf ball thing with my feet too which seems to be working a treat!

Before Christmas, and the majority of last year my knees would hurt for 2-3 days after doing exercise. Having done training (in a horrible, hard floor, indoor gym thing [like you have in schools]) on Sunday, my knee doesn't seem to have been effected at all, feels great in fact.

Lets see what tonight brings, as I'm aching (good aches!) like a mofo today! :D

Flat Bench Press – 3x10 @ 80KG
Incline Dumbbell Bench – 3x10 @ 20KG
Tricep Extensions - 3x10 @ 18KG
Seated Dumbbell Military Press -3x10 @ 20KG
Lateral Dumbbell Raises – 3x10 @ 20KG

Really struggled with the Dumbbell work last night... and the Bench to be honest... dunno if its because my arms ached loads from Sundays training session or what but I really struggled compared to last week. My arms are bruised to buggery from repeating tackling drills over and over!

Also got myself weighed last night.. 89.5KG ... so happy with that!!

I've been trying for years to put weight on and in the last 2-3 months I've managed around 10KG... might not be impressive to most but it is for me! :D

My body fat is 20.2 as well, not sure if that's good or not but woo!

Will do one more week of this and then probs look at changing the routine up to include more of the compound workouts

Went to pick the dog up last night from the parents house and noticed a Rumble Roller box on the side... I should be unwrapping it today for my Birthday... time to scream!

Got an hour in the gym, followed by 1 hour classroom session and then 1 hour football training. quite looking forward to be back training on Wednesdays!

Might need some advice on changing up my routine for next week. As mentioned, I'd like to start working on the workouts provided by Freefaller, but unsure on how to group them into days etc..

used the roller for the first time last night before going to the gym.... tears... tears and screams!

Felt amazing afterwards though. My legs felt 'like new'.. which is such a weird sensation for somebody with messed up knees!

Didn't really record much in the gym last night as I forgot to take my phone :( boo! (memory like a goldfish!) but I did get through quite a lot.

Tried a few new things too (as suggested by FF) like the Deadlifts etc...

Fun!

Only bad part is, I've had to buy a load of new shirts for work as I can't fit my arms into my old ones and the buttons on the chest flair out! Also can no longer fit into my 'skinny' jeans. boo!

*chuckles*

Yeah... that sounds about right. :D

You know it's working. ;)

Not updated this in a while but have still been going 2-3 times per week!

Weights room has gotten so busy recently though its quite frustrating waiting for equipment.

Been doing extra with my legs over the past couple of weeks as I found my knee started to hurt again. Needless to say, spending the extra time on them has paid off, feeling great again!

Only problem is I seem to have strayed off the path of keeping to a set workout and finding myself just doing 'whatever I feel like'.

will trim the fur down and post some progress pics soon. Certainly got bigger!.. and the guys I'm tackling are saying I'm hitting harder!.. good news!

Along with the standard training i'm still doing.. my football club did a "liftathon" to raise money for the club on Sunday.

Here's what I did:
Deadlifts: 10x60, 10x100, 5x120, 1x140 (new PB for me!)
Bench: 10x60, 10x70, 5x80, 1x90
Squats: 10x60, 10x80, 5x100
Inc Bench: 10x36, 10x36, 5x40
Curls: 10x36, 10x36, 5x40
Dips: 10xBW+20, 10xBW+20, 5xBW+25

Those are the main ones at least! :) There were other stuff but not as notable.. more so lots of reps of something light as my arms felt like jelly :p

Nice.

What does your training regime look like at the moment?

Physical wise I'm still following the same routine on the OP. with a couple of things added in and others taken out.

If I get time I also add in some suspension work too, I find its quite a good warm up.

Unsure on if I should be changing the routine around much though. My dumbell work has increased weight wise, and thats what seems to tire me out the most.

EDIT: I also have football training on Wednesdays and Sundays, so not leaving much time for rest.

Diet wise I'm still eating as much "stuff" as I can, and seem to be maintaining a weight of 90kg. Though I am generally eating much better for lunches and things. Tuna, cous cous, salad seems to be a common lunch dish at the moment. replace the tuna with other meats for variety.

Would ideally like my weight to be a tiny bit higher but I'm pretty satisfied with it as it stands. I'll get some pictures up later on/tomorrow. Certainly seeing improvements though, a lot stronger in Football, clothes not fitting etc...

Played two games the weekend.
One was a charity game for Worcester Uni Alumni vs the current Worcester Uni team...
The other a warm-up game for my normal team vs Crewe.

but OH MY GOD I ACHE!...

That is all!

Having read the majority of the website over the last few days, decided to give StrongLifts 5x5 a go.

I'll be doing it along side my normal warm ups and TRX stuff.

Did workout A on Monday so will be doing Workout B today.. before training...
Started relatively light to make sure I've got half decent form. Will try and get some videos up soon for some pointers (need to drag somebody to the gym with me!)

Squat: 70KG
Bench: 60KG
Row: 50KG (actually found this quite difficult!)

Struggling to find a training partner who's similar to me as well!

Squat: 75KG
OHP: 50KG
DL: 90KG

Can probably squat a bit more.. I've certainly deadlifted a lot more, but managed to hurt my back with my PB of 140KG. So taking it slowly making sure my form is right this time!
OHP certainly maxed out on 50KG, towards the end of the sets/reps I really struggled to fully stretch my arms out

Haven't been posting every single one, as I keep forgetting but for some reason my OHP last night was absolutely dire :/

I struggled doing 45KG .. like really struggled! but last Wednesday, I managed 50KG with nowhere near as much struggle! Any idea why something like that would happen?

On the other hand squats and DL both getting heavier, woop!

CNS fatigue, lack of muscle repair, pre-fatigue (tiredness), poor nutrition leading to skewed hormone levels, lack of focus... take your pick. :(

Most of these can be dealt with through 8hrs sleep/night and a consistently balanced and excessive diet (yeah, baby! :D).

However, depending on training history, CNS fatigue can be harder to deal with simply because it isn't wired to cope with a certain volume of training/intensity. Add to that the fact that almost everybody sucks at OHP so don't worry about it. ;) :D
