Induction kit

Replace the OEM filter with a drop in K&N jobby is worth a go and cheap.

Worked well on my 1.6 as the old OEM was a paper version that hadn't been changed in a while. Improved throttle response nicely, but considering how bad *** old one was I'n not surprised.

Unless you running a nicely tuned engine or a perforance car then I wouldn't bother unless you want some RAWR from under there.

I'd rather pay 2k for a 10 year old golf than 12k on a new fiesta that's slower, uglier and cheaper made

golfs look like they fell out of the ugly tree, and who in there right mind pays 12k for a fiesta...

cheaper made? lol

I don't have a MAF :)

Judging from your signature picture i would suggest you do?

I have played around with setups on my focus a bit. Firstly added the 2.0 auto air deflector and st170 snorkel and air box. This increased throttle responds very marginally and helped it go round the revs a bit more freely. I then took the resonator off and put a K&N panel in which is a reasonable basic setup. Lack of a resonator adds a fair bit to the sound of the engine really for such a simple mod.

Then i put a K&N cone filter on. (but leave the air deflector and st170 snorkel in place for my cold air feed) This then added more throttle response, much more than was added before. It now was happier to rev even more freely, the engine then had enough energy to go right to the limiter if you wernt paying enough attention where as in stock form i found around 5,500 revs was all it really liked to give. Then naturally the noise increases massively. About twice as much again as over just removing the resonator. Deff sounds good tho naturally and prob quite rightly all my mates called me a chav. I never really suffered from heat soak either btw. Maybe bogged once or twice of the lights for that reason.

Cant comment on the power front as i have no proof for you but from snorkel etc i couldnt feel an increase in power as such, like say freer to rev, less strangled. After the cone i would say i could feel a slight increase in power as well as it being happier to rev. But then that could have been my imagination or that fact that on a 1.8 focus even a 1bhp increase would proportionally be a lot :P

Ford Fiesta ST 2.0 Price
£13,995 - on the road

Play with the interior on a german car then play with that of a ford, the difference is huge.

Then close the door on a german car then close the door on a ford, it feels like the ford door is made of paper.

My family have always had german cars, my sister changed to fiestas since they are cheap and just bought an 08 plate one, my dad also bought a 53 plate focus as a workhorse for filling with tools and crap, pulling trailers etc...we hate them but they are fine for just trashing.

Don't worry Overlag. I'm with you mate. The Fez ST is way nicer than a clio or golf. Fantastic handling car, decent size boot, good std. sound system, nice interior and comfy yet firm ride. :)

Damn why didn't I put a cone filter on my old e46 M3 rather than spend £5000+ on remap, full exhaust (100cell race cat) and schrick cams for a measly 45+ bhp ;)

Fiddling with cars is great fun but personally I think people should wait till you can afford something that warrants playing with the performance.

I did put a K&N on my e36 m3 in conjunction with an air feed and it made no difference other than sound and that had a tiny entry to the stock airbox, this is why I didn't bother on the e46 and went the proper route.

It is all placebonic at a few bhp on a normal car, much like the zoomgggod feel the difference with a tank of Vpower

Still makes me chortle when bland cars growl up the road at 4mph as they give it full beans with there induction kits and massive exhausts

Anyway if your having fun I supose that is the main thing but take it from poople who know, save your money for a better car and enjoy what you have for what it is.

And don't forget to advise your insurance company ;)

man you must be totally stupid, £50 on a k&n 57i from halfords and you'd have had at least 20000bhp!!!!

£5000+ for 45bhp?!

Jam-Sport do a Supercharger kit for the Fez ST which will take it to over 200bhp for mearly £3.5k! That's like +50bhp.

Is it harder to tune an M3 or something?

just because VW is german, it doesnt make it a BMW...

and anyway, a mk3 build quality better than a fez ST? ;)

and just because it isn't a bmw/merc/audi, doesn't mean it isn't german quality. Granted some of the basic models don't share the same quality, but who wants a basic model anyway.

A mk3s quality better than a new st, maybe not, but the st having £10k worth of better quality - no.

sorry a mk3 is 10 years old, and cannot possibly be better quality inside, unless its NEVER been used and is in a sealed vacume to stop it getting old..

fiesta st 14k u say..... well isnt the same sort of spec golf 18k?

I didn't say it was better, I said the fiesta's quality wasn't £10k worth of better.

golfs are focus' rivals, not fiestas

golfs are a lot smaller inside than a focus, at least it felt like it. i hated the thing.

each to there own i guess...
