induction kit

I also recommend an ecotek valve and lowering the back seats to improve the centre of mavity. 2 small spoilers on the back plus some Carbon Fibre Canards should also give you some aero improvements.

Get some pics up, this really interests me.

Well, let's think about this for a second.

  • Engines work more efficiently with denser, cooler air. This is far more important than ridding the slight air restriction (if any) the standard intake system has.

  • Most 'Induction kits' are actually just cone filters that sit in the same position as the standard airbox, but without the cold air feed that most OEM airboxes have.

  • Diesel engines by design run very hot.
I'll let you figure out if it is worth it or not.

The only reason i asked is when i took car in today to be fixed, theres a problem of some kind with the airbox and i need a new one. So i thought, why not replace it with something decent ?

Can i ask, what about BMC CDA's or piperX vipers etc, are they any good ? no way of hot air getting to them...

If your car has been remapped (as in properly remapped not just a dodgy tuning box) then changing any part that may gain/lose performance without getting it remapped or at least tweaked is never a good idea.

no, its being remapped after i do any kind of modifications. hence the whole thread!

though they think it is remapped as it makes a dump valve sound when you come off boost, which only remapped ones make. It just doesnt feel 190hp.

190bhp?! what are you on?
a remapped 130 would get nowhere near that much
you'd be lucky to get 190bhp after remapping a 150

or it could just have an aftermarket BOV?

or more likely the standard dump valve is knackered!

Uhm, boggo standard diesels can have audible dump valves.

Actually, I don't know why I bother. :/

just took the chav filter of my golf gti turbo ive just picked up for dirt cheap!

and the standard box simply is awesome over any induction kit :)

A BMC CDA makes a right racket, with much more unpleasant 'boomy' noise going through the cabin, and will make sod all difference to the performance. Any engineering bods on here will probably be able to explain this better than I can but why would you want to fit something to 'induct' air that that's maybe 2-3 degrees cooler when the tubocharger's just going to heat it up again to a temperature thats 10 times or 100 times greater?

Are you also planning to buy a uprated clutch as well? You'll need it with that *cough* 190bhp and all that extra tOrX.

my old 306 td had it all, nippey little car :)
dump valve, indut kit, remapped, in garage now rotting :(

You won't get 190, you'll get 170-180 with a custom map from a good company, provided your engine is in good shape. Go to a reputable company like jabbasport or r-tech.
Sachs uprated clutch and smf, the stock clutch doesn't take it very well.

lol i gave 2 the wife, still trying make her sale it.nothing really wrong with it gonna need new batt now.
ex show car.will put some pics up in a bit:)

That's because it's not. I think PD130s will remap to about 160bhp, if that.

Between 160 an 180bhp depending on whether you go for generic (bluefin or similar) or full custom map (Jabbasport etc).

It also depends on which stage you are on. More than 180bhp is possible although not without further modification.
