IndyCar 2012

But, surely that gets rid of the mad rush when everyone pits at once that injects moments of excitement into what can sometimes be an incredibly boring race?

And single file restarts just gets rid of any change of close fighting in the first few laps after one?

Seem to me like they have just tried to keep things calm and organised, but have ended up making things boring :(

Nascar closes the pits during cautions too though doesn't it? Unless that was changed more recently...

It's also less likely to result in crashes.

At least wait for the race before passing judgement :p

Is this fallout from Vegas last year?

Seems a little odd.

Probably linked to the restart crashes at Sao Paulo.

Restarts will be single file as opposed to double file in 2011, but he noted that the level of control he has seen by the drivers thus far in practice gave him confidence that a return to double-file starts at IMS would occur in the future.

The pits are open for NASCAR during cautions. Or at least they are for the Nationwide. It's been the same for IndyCar this year too, even if there was a recovery truck blocking the pit entrance

The complete fail restarts at Sao Paulo shouldnt effect the 500 though, its hardly like the first corner is a tight chicane.

Just seems a bit of an over reaction. They are pinning a lot of hope on the new chassis generating exciting racing.

That was a great Dan Wheldon feature by Sky there.

I didn't think this years cars could get any uglier... but the Indy aero kits have done it.

11 laps in and both remaining Lotus powered cars have been lapped.

:D

[edit]

Actually, scrap that. De Silvestro has retired and Alesi was black flagged. :D

So funny....

Thats a rule that's needed in F1. Not within 105% of the car setting the best laptime - black flagged.

Dario spun around in the pits! Nice and safe action there.

Definitely agree Flibster, these things look awful with the Indy kit.

Franchitti is having a mare of a season so far absolutely nowhere in the standings considering he's the defending champion and having stuff like that happen really doesn't help him!
