They added ten laps to the race distance to try and stop it being a fuel saving race. Doesn't look like it's going to work.Indycar race just started, straight into a turn 1 accident and full course yellow.
Does bug me that fuel saving is a thing in most motorsports now. They are already talking about it how it will effect strategy.
This is a bit yawnsome it must be said.
An enjoyable race with a pleasing outcome.
100% This - feels like a degree of karma to be honestI can't pretend to feel sorry for Penske.
I think his F1 ship has sailed. As has Herta's. Colton would likely have needed to either win or come second to get enough Superlicence points anyway. if Cadillac aren't considering him now, and he probably was considered and then disregarded, no one else will be getting an F1 seat direct from Indycar for a long, long time without there being some sort of cross series team interest as there is for McLaren. Even then, other than reserve driver roles, I can't see O'Ward getting an F1 seat unless there is a major falling out between McLaren and either Norris or Piastri. I'd love Chip Ganassi to try and get him into the Rookies test at Abu Dhabi though, especially as it's going to be all change next season with the new Regs.Looking like another Palou walkover at Laguna Seca, likely to win yet another Indycar Title - here's one though - as much success as he's had in Indycar how do you think he would fare in F1?
Obviously in recent years there isn't a great record of drivers coming across from Indy and actually acheiving much of anything in F1; Villeneuve in 96/97 aside maybe (and to be honest as soon as he wasn't in a clearly way ahead Williams he didn't exactly excel) and obviously Montoya looked fast at time if ultimately inconsistent.
Palou never looked like a future great during his (limited) European racing career and even in Japan had a best Championship finish of 3rd - it'll probably never happen, at 28 he's probably seen as too old to be an F1 rookie and even Cadillac don't seem to be too bothered about picking an Indycar driver for their team (and presumably would pick an American anyway...).

I also believe he got a substantial pay rise on a new contract as well. McLaren were talking about quadrupling his wages with the deal they had on the table. The attempt at faux drama at the beginning of the broadcast made me laugh - Will Pato win the title? He's right back in it! All he needs to do is outscore Palou by 30 points/race and it's down to the wire!
Utter nonsense. Before the Laguna GP the gap was 100 (I think) points, which isn't that far off the largest gap it had been all season so whilst Pato did take points off Palou in Toronto he didn't, and doesn't stand a chance of winning the title.
I think had he not backed out on his signed Arrow McLaren contract I think we would have found out and I think he would have held is own but wouldn't be as much of a top contender as he's been in IndyCar.
