Inevitable Spec Me

I've had eyefinity with 2 x 280x's (rebranded 7970's) back in the day and i know how taxing it is on performance @ 5760 x 1080 and sometimes how fiddly eyefinity is. i used to use http://www.wsgf.org/ for my game tweaks for eyefinity.

What connections do your monitors have? - most new cards have 3 x DP 1 x HDMI - which i assume will be no good for your monitors ? i recall my eyefinity set up needing 2 x HDMI + 1 DVI. I found nvidia surround the better of the two for connections compatibility. Once you've posted your monitor connections i can help you with a GPU.

edit: most single card solutions e.g. polaris/maxwell/pascal can use any connection configuration on a single card, but again if your monitors don't have DP you're in for a rough time.

I wouldn't get 4gb cards for 3x 1200p

OK. Lets see.
4GB HBM is NOT the same at 4GB GRRD5. Is tad more than 6GB GDDR5 effective.

3 x 1920x1200 = 6,912,000 pixels
1 x 4k monitor = 8,294,000 pixels.
1 x 3400x1440 = 4,953,600 pixels.

So you are between the Ultrawide and the 4K. (check the GPU reviews of 4K resolution to get an idea what you want).

For AMD at £500 budget, 2 RX480s or even better 2 390Xs if you can find them. The latter going to give you more than Pascal Titan performance, and are bargains.

Afterwards, Pascal Titan (£1100) if you want single card to cut through 60fps+
With a single GTX1080 you are looking something 50-52fps
However I have no idea about NV Surround.

A lot of people seem to be making this sort of claim but as someone who owns one I can say that from my experience with a HBM card this isn't the case, A 6gb 980ti gets zero stutter because of hitting it's ram limit in ROTTR, That's because it does not hit it's ram limit, A 4gb Fury hits it's limit and is a mess because of it. Other games also show this, plus we are getting games that register that the card has 4gb's and refuse to let you even use the higher settings. This is all at 1080p or 1440p via vsr on a 1080p monitor. so no it is not the equivalent to 6gb's of ddr5 and it is not enough for 3x 1200p monitors. The 390x's would be as good or a tad better than the 480's but again my choice would be the fastest single card I can get (I'd wait till Vega) and adding a second in a couple of years if crossfire support improves with the new api's.
