Has inflatable storage become a thing, or is my neighbour off their head? They have a lovely car, a convertible that's probably in the £50k+ price range. For the past month or so it's been encased in a large inflatable enclosure. It looks like a bouncy castle in their drive.

Not only does it look ridiculous but I can't imagine the point in owning something so expensive and turning it into Schroedinger's Car.

Is this a new thing?

Edit: it's one of these...

I guess it's a good idea if you want a car you want to protect but don't have a garage.

Go and throw something at it.

I think they're excellent solutions to keeping dust and bird doodoo off your car, but obvs you'd have to be a bit special to use it for your daily. The better ones actually monitor the pressure in the container and inflate it automatically to maintain it, a million times better than traditional car covers imo.

It looks like it's going to sit inside that thing for the duration of the winter.

Imagine someone nicking the car but re-inflating the tent, come spring they go to get the car out...
(obviously on the non-transparent version)

I decided to Google it as I didn't want to be taking pictures of their drive. I've added the picture to the OP - and wow, I can't believe how much they've paid for that.

Mental.
Cheaper than a garage or paying storage. I know lots of people who have them esp for classic cars which are parked up for winter. Even thought about buying one myself

If you wanna be truly evil you make a few pin pricks in it so the compressor kicks in a bit more often, you'll cost them a quid or two a month extra on leccy and they'd never know.
