I'm just wondering if an item was taken to a post office at 17:38pm today and it was Royal Mail 1st class Signed For Delivery do you reckon it will come today (Thursday) or was it put in to the post office to late?
Oh sorry I was the one who ordered something and I got the tracking order and on royal mail it says this so was just curious with this new info does it seem like it could come in the morning
30/03/16 17:38 SENT AT POST OFFICE 361 Coventry Roa B10 0SH
and it says this
Status: It's on its way.
Item ( ) was posted at 361 Coventry Roa B10 0SH on 30/03/16 and is being progressed through our network for delivery.
Thank you for using our Royal Mail Signed For™ service
Certainly based on a lot of the Post Offices in the Oxford area the cut off is usually around 16:00 at the latest, but that may (and probably does) vary from region to region.
Depends on the post office, they will often have a cut off at 1600/1700 but I know that my local even though it has that cut off the postie only arrives at around 1800 to pick stuff up so even though I am told it wont arrive next day it does.
The only guaranteed next day service open to the public offered by Royal Mail is Special Delivery (which is guaranteed by 13:00) and Special Delivery 9am.
1st or 2nd class "Signed For" (new name for recorded delivery) are treated the same as any other 1st or 2nd class item of mail, except for at the recipients address a signature will need to be obtained.
I think the stat is 93% of 1st class will arrive next day and because of the lateness of the drop off I'd say expect two days unless you live in the remotes and then 3 or 4
