Informal chat?

Had one of these on tuesday. I went with the suit option...minus the tie and was simply holding my jacket as it was roasting. I did feel a bit of a **** as everyone was wearing a tie and when he spoke of the dress code he emphasised requiring a tie :(

As for what was covered, he merely went over how the company works and what is expected of me in the role. Only questions I was asked, 'You live close don't you?', 'Have you had experience with language X?'

Was a bit odd, they offered me the job at the end of it. I've no idea how this works as weeks ago they turned me down due to insufficient funds...apparently now they're sufficient, im not arguing.

I don't really think an 'informal chat' gives us any clues about what you ought to wear. Treat it as you would an interview. If it's for a job in a pub, I doubt that a suit would be necessary. If it's for a job where you would be wearing a suit, then a suit is definitely required. For somewhere in between you need to make a bit of a judgement call.
