Infotec Printer (ftp scan problem)

i am reading the manual at the moment and it says the following :

Does this mean that i can not scan from the printer to a ftp that is online? do i have to scan to a shared folder on the network?

All help would be brilliant!

acutally thats not too clear either, as it only rules out using a proxy. In the printer settings for its Network, I assume you can set an IP address, and a Network mask. Can you also set a gateway? If you can then it might be possible to use an online ftp. I'd give it a go and see if it works.

I would imagine itll work as long as your NOT behind a proxy server.

it works fine as a printer and fax. and its on the network. Would i just need to set up gateway for it to look for the outside world and then i can do ftp to my server (online server)

Yep, set the gateway and it should work fine.

true, but you could give the printer a static IP and allow that IP address though your firewall so it doesn't have to go through the proxy.
