Is it possiable to burn a .cue file using infrarecorder? Iam struggling to find the answer on google. Ive got an album that has a .mp3 file and a cue file and want to burn to cd with the cue so that it cuts the track up for me.

EAC will let you load a cue sheet to burn an audio CD.

edit: saying that, looks like IR will do it. Just select Actions, Burn Image... and then select the cue sheet. never tried it with that myself but do have it installed as I've used it for other stuff. Always seemed a decent program for other bits so I guess it should be fine.

Thanks, you mean in audio cd option? Tried it in that option anyway, and it says completed and finished really quick. But doesn't seem to do anything :s

hmm, not sure then. I have some MP3s/WAVs here with cue sheets but no blank CDs to test it with. Is the cue sheet correct and the audio file(s) in the correct paths? Normally they are in the same location and the cue sheet references the audio file by file name.

I have to go into work over the weekend so if I remember I'll see if I can find some blank CDs to test.

If not try EAC as that definitely should work. ImgBurn is another burner people seem to recommend and the web site for that says it supports CUEs as well.

Ok cool, gonna give EAC a go instead.

Is EAC the best to use to rip to .flac? From .flac can you covert to .mp3 easily? If so what software? Thanks again

EAC used to be the best to rip from CD, as in most accurate rip to wav. Can be a bit fiddly to set up and no idea if it is still considered to be the most accurate ripper these days.

As for conversion to FLAC, MP3 etc it just passes the WAVs to whatever 3rd party conversion tool you want to use. EAC itself just does the ripping to WAV first what ever you chose as the output and then passes those wavs to your encoder of choice.

Looking at it, it comes with the cmd line version of FLAC 1.2.1. I just use it with lame.exe cmd line.

Converting from FLAC to MP3 I have no idea. I guess you just need to find an MP3 encoder that will take FLAC as an input.

I'd say EAC and dBpoweramp are the two best rippers to rip to anything... I'd hesitate to rank one above the other, it's really more down to personal preference - many people find dBpoweramp easier to set up and use, but it's not free, unlike EAC. However, although EAC is a top-notch ripper, I've never been very fond of its burning component, which seems a bit of an afterthought and hasn't always been reliable in my experience.

For burning audio CDs (from just about any encoded format), you might also like to take a look at Burrrn - it's a simple app designed for the one job, which it does very well indeed. It will do cue + MP3 image file as per your original request.

You can easily convert FLACs to MP3 - there are tons of apps which will do the job, although foobar2000 (free) or dBpoweramp Music Converter (not free) would be my first choices. :)

Sorry I keep asking about differant things. Cheers for your help btw.

Trying to burn a cd using a .cue using EAC and I cant how do you do it?

Tools, Write CDR...
File, Load CUE sheet...
CD-R, Write CD...

At it's most basic that should be it tbh but might be worth looking through the rest of EACs options for anything to do with writing CDs to see if anything else needs setting.

I used to do loads of this a few years back, ripping, tagging, burning etc. But at the time I'd just bought a 40GB 3G iPod and was working for a music company so was well into my music and getting free CDs etc all the time.

These days I work for a bank, am too busy all the time and have lost myself a bit musically. :( So not done much of this for a while.

Talking of which I need to get some sleep as I'm in work all weekend. :(
Good luck with the burning. :)

Right used imgburn to write a cue file, that worked well actually. Only think now, anyone know how to get the track names appear they are written in the cue file-but once burn ive just got track 1/2/3 etc
