Infuriating when people can't use simple devices

I've had to be restrained today with some text responses:

"My monitor fell over when redecorating, it now says there's a cable unplugged.
What do you think is wrong?"

No one can use them.

I use them frequently, because I prefer to shop in the middle of the night. Although they will always flag something up as a problem. Anything that's light stands a good chance of being flagged as a problem requiring a card to to waved at the machine by the poor sod who has to spend all night in the self service area listening to that annoying voice saying the same few phrases hundreds of times.

It's my experience that every technological thick person I've come across has skills in their own subjects which would take the geek apart.
The thickest techno person I know is an expert on scaffolding and Harley Davidson repairs.
