you did follow the steps to create a usb bootable copy...maybe a file got corrupted..I's wipe usb stick and create it again, then try again...machine doesn't need to be connected to wifi to start the install..been awhile since did it, but think downloads basic, then afterwards asks for you to join internet..from there it can download updates, drivers etc
