I just wanted some advice, I live in a rented house and a few months ago my heating packed up, to cut a long story short the guy that came to fix it did an awful job and after he had left I found that I no longer got hot water for more then about 30 seconds, I dont often stay at my house as I normally stay with my girlfriend so it never really bothered me.

Now a week ago I had some washing up that needed doing and I boiled the kettle and as I poured it in the bowl the lid came open and I poured the entire kettle over my hand (I wasnt watching what I was doing).

Does sound like somthing I can claim for or am I just clutching at straws?

So the bloke who did a poor job on your heating system is responsible for you failing to properly use your kettle and as a result scalding your hand?

Tenuous as best, cretinous at worst.

i dont feel this is directly linked to the boiler not working unfortunatly, so i dont feel you have a case. if however you had be burnt due to the boiler malfunctioning, then you would have :(

Who are you planning on claiming against? The plumber or the kettle company or the water company for providing you with the water you burned yourself with?

The words personal responsibility come to mind in either case. We're not America, man up?

I didn't think.

Obviously. :p

A year ago somebody passed my house carrying a ladder, When I went out this morning I tripped over what I can only assume was footprints he had left.
Can I claim ?

I don't think I'd find ancient aztec ruins by digging up the road outside my front door, should I post a thread about that?

If you really believe for even a second that you in any way had a viable reason to claim, you need to review your life. :p

If he'd left deep enough footprints, you'd have a better claim than the OP.

So you injured yourself through your own stupidity but are looking for someone else to blame so that you can involve yourself in the good old compo culture? Sheesh.
