input lag - LCD faster than CRT?? I do something wrong? Iiyama PL- E2201W-B1

LOL just hooked up my new monitor - Iiyama PLE2201W-B1 22" side by side to my old CRT to compare the input lag:-

system:-

amd dual core 2.4
7600GT
MX510 logitech mouse

i downloaded a stopwatch program set up the monitors for 2 tests - a clone and a dual view under the nvidia options.

I then used my Fuji F30 with an awesome shutter speed and took a snap shot or two as the stopwatch program ran on both monitors. COnsistently the CRT monitor was 1-4ms slower at displaying the image than the above LCD....

~Is this right or have i done something wrong?? :)

according to this review :- http://www.behardware.com/articles/689-2/22-inch-lcd-monitors-the-3rd-wave.html - my monitor doesnt suffer from input lag but hey - to be faster than my CRT?

cheers for your help in advance.

PS. i know the above method is not 100% guarantee to show lag but atleast i would have thought they would be on par ^^

yep, you need a 3 decimal place stopwatch to show further, but as it is the TFT is 20ms behind the CRT there :)

yup, as i alluded to in my post, its at least 20ms and likely it is actually over, as it could be anything up to 29ms and still show that...no way to tell with a 2 decimal counter. Wonder why its so different than the tests in the review he linked....change of monitor revision?

Read a bit about this before, I really ought to connect up my CRT and do a comparison.

Not so, the difference could actually be less than 20ms.
For example one could be 1:45.764 and the other 1:45.780 to 3dp.

true enough, was forgetting the crt will also be 'behind' as well since its a crappy 2 decimal place counter hehe, so all this really confirms is its between 11 and 29 hehe.

ah i see **im so stupid** didnt think that one through :)

It is counting up, the CRT is connected via VGA -> DVI converter (DVI only card) & LCD connected via DVI cable.

I'll try the 3 decimal place stop wath too cheers.

I think it maybe out only because I could not get the LCD to run at native res. which i believe can cause the delay.

In the nvidia options it showed the LCD @ 1680x1050 & CRT @ 1280x1024 BUT when you click the change res. option it shows the CRT & LCD both locked at 1280x1024.......I tried switching the CRT to 1600x1200 which it can do, but it didnt seem to help.....

Any Ideas?

:- Ill try to post the panel details later on

This sounds like a very similar story to mine (was not from OCuk): Did the outer box show labels with conflicting information, one showing B1 and another B2?

3 weeks on, I'm still awaiting my B1 after RMAing the B2 as soon as I checked the ID plate on the reverse of the monitor, I did not even plug the B2 in :/

yeah thats the one (mine wasnt from ocuk either), there were 3 stickers on the box 2 showing B2 1 showing B1 & the box also showed e2201W-B then the black circle was in the 2 box.

Needless to say the monitor plate on the back showed a B2, called and rma'd it today, having this one collected monday and the replacement delivered monday, apparently they will check the actual version on the monitor..... although im dubious they will actually do this.

Anyone know of actual B1 stock confirmed?

Will OCUK get any actual B1 stock in??
