Input Lag or Response Time

Hi All,

hope i dont miss anyone!

Nexus18 - 34" 1440 free/g sync 75/100HZ panels - i think we are looking at G-Sync, but, as we weren't with the first wave we need to make sure we get it right first time

johnnystuff - it is about that time isnt it. i have seen some stuff from HQ about new screens for next year and i am impressed, and i cannot wait until i can start talking about them!!!!

Falkentyne - dont want too much then :)

And thank you everyone else for your comments and input.

Dan

I really hope that some of what you have seen, have been about motion clarity, I cant stress enough about how important that is for me :)

Give me a 144hz G-Sync 27 -16.9 / 34 - 21.9 without motion blur and I will get one ASAP :D

Best Regards!

Thanks for the answer Daniel! Great to hear that you guys are looking at producing those monitors :)

Please consider doing freesync as well as gsync, AMD might not have as much of the market as nvidia but I believe that you should be pushing "open standards" more than closed practices, at least consider doing what acer did anyway, give the customer the choice.

+ 1 @Nexus18!

Choice are good, and I also would prefere more of a glossy screen, ex the Asus Pg278Q (Swift)is downright awful. Such filter really are killing the picture with the grainy sandy filter.

Atleast thats what I think, and I heard that the new Dell TN also seems to have such filter. I think thats crazy!

Supposedly the the anti-glare coating has been improved for the swift, dell and benq screen but yeah I don't like heavy matte nor do I like glossy, the current LG ultrawide screens use the best anti glare coating I have seen, you can't see any grain at all and they have a nice "pop" to them too :)

BTW Daniel, I have read that there are rumours of LG bringing OLED monitors at some point now that the image retention has been sorted out.... Any idea when this might be?

My RMA replacement Swift definitely had an improvement to the AG coat - whites were MUCH better than the original panel which was quite grainy and overall colours had more punch and text looked sharper.

As much as the RMA was a pain it was worth it the replacement has a decent improvement in image quality.

Gonna be very gutted if this one dies.

If LG really want improve monitor standards then I think you should focus on three things.

Moving away from 60Hz. We don't need 120+ Hz screens. 80-90Hz would be fantastic.

QC. Reducing light bleed and IPS glow, and increase brightness uniformity.

VESA VVR/FreeSync across the range.

Along with 10ms input latency with 5ms response.

My screen has a refresh of about 12ms and i have no issues with it, since 60hz only requires a refresh every 16.6ms.

try something better and you will see the light

fast pixel transitions do help at low refresh rates as well otherwise any time there is movement on screen it just goes all smeary, fast pixel transitions mean a clear image, even if it is still a bit stuttery because of the lower refresh

I guess with 12ms and 60hz, the smeariness probably helps hide the stutteryness

Hi everyone, bit of a consensus here, so interested in your opinions

What is more important to you in regards to gaming - a low response time (sub 5ms) or a low input lag (sub 10ms)?

Let me know what you think! :D

Personally speaking I don't know if its me or not but response times don't seem to make any difference to me, at least nothing I can notice. I wonder if half of what people say is placebo.

Input lag on the other hand is something thats very noticeable.

@Daniel

From what I have seen of a preview of CES 2016 again the LG monitor range look all Ultra Wides. A lot want vertical space not wide for productivity. The Phillips and IIyama or the Samsung 2015 TV range are so popular because of the manufactures otherwise lacking in supplying what a lot of us are actually looking for, but we have to compromise so much to obtain it.

Please make a 40" - 42" 4K preferably IPS. OLED 10bit panel HDR with 4:4:4@60 Game and PC mode or higher with low input lag good response time and a better system than PWM backlighting. With display port and HDMI 2.0.

It can be a TV as long as we can provision it as a monitor and going by how well the Phillips sold via Overclockers (their best selling monitor was a quote by one of the staff) You will sell them fast.
