Input Lag Tests

That article will be translated within a few days on the English site of hardware.fr....BeHardware.com. It's an interesting article. Hoping to run some input lag tests myself soon so will have some more monitors looked at hopefully :)

Gotta love language translation:

Undoubtedly is still necessary it to add this preoccupation with a reactivity to it raised on the majority of the monitors. In any case, on our side, we were a test moreover to add to our panoply…

Well that's cleared that one up then  :)

Very interesting and it confirms a lot of what I've intuitively known from years of Quake:

CRT is currently better for "pro" gamers than TFT.
Mice are not all created equal in response times.
VSync off is faster than VSync on.

Interesting. "Input Lag" - Fact Or Fiction.

Vincent is back with another CRT revenge article and if you are not the world fastest gamer (a bit like "Fatal1ty") and if we exclude the theoretical benchmarks ... is it really the issue nowadays, especially with the latest generation of fast WS LCD panels ? So, great OcUK gaming community, what do you think ? Are you and your gaming immersion affected? Is your LCD monitor letting you down during the crucial moments in the fast paced games ? (info about the LCD monitor or panel type in this survey would be quite useful too).

Well its pretty obvious CRTs beat TFTs for response. But nice for the doubters to get more hard evidence I guess (or maybe not nice for them? :D)

If I was a pro gamer staying with CRT would be a no-brainer.....but since I'm not a pro gamer and deskspace is limited.......;)

As for mice helping out in lag, my Razer Diamondback certainly gave me a boost over my old serial mouse. That was quite noticable to me in fast paced fps games. I think that coupled with my NECs decent speed (for a tft)and I play most games happily with V-sync off is more than enough to satisfy me speed-wise.

I too use a TFT. But there is no question that I can notice the lag when playing and have to aim ahead. I accept that because I no longer have the desk space for the CRT but it does make a difference.
