Inquisitor - Dark RPG :BG/Divine Divinity Style: ( INDIE )

Giving it a go now, what struck me right away was the bad character animation... He doesn't move smoothly when changing direction, feel like i'm using a dpad on a controller!

Any other thoughts Neil79? Have you had a chance to play it for a bit? It certainly looks interesting from the trailer, though I would have thought the real-time combat could get a bit fiddly?

I find it to expensive, you could buy the complete BG series and Icewind Dale collection boxed for that price. £5 it is worth a punt, I will wait, am sure it will go on sale at some point.

@Neil: Developers had to resort to this level of animation because they wanted to render all combinations of items on all playable characters which resulted in hundreds of thousands of files even at this level. To make the animations smoother would require hundreds of additional megabytes (or possibly gigabytes) of data which was something unacceptable at the time the animations were done. And now it is too late to do something about that because it would be necessary to re-render all animations again:-) I believe you will get used to it soon.

Not a huge fan from what I have played so far, the stamina mechanic seems quite poor, it regens so slowly and I am not keen on games that require you to drink potions every 5 minutes.

As mentioned the UI is poor, given that the game has a lot of reading to do, scaling should have been thought of.

The difficulty of the combat is fairly high so far. I am not saying this is a bad thing necessarily, but like I said earlier stamina runs out so quickly (at least on my thief firing a bow it does) and when you are out of stamina you move much slower. It also does not regen whilst you are moving.

I'll persevere, but having spend a good bit of time the last few days really enjoying the UnderRail demo which seemed really slick in comparison, this just doesn't seem to be doing it for me so far.

OFF TOPIC - Regarding Underrail

Underrail, the post-apocalyptic indie RPG which has a demo out and the developer posting regularly on the Codex, has been officially previewed by none other than me.

The indie RPG Underrail, which had its demo released recently, feels and looks very similar to one of the most popular Codexian classics - Fallout. When I played the demo, many of its aspects reminded me of Fallout. The flavour text when examining some objects, the character system, the combat, and even the atmosphere in some parts of the game. But is it actually good? To find out, read the following preview!

So, don't waste any time and go read that preview! (And play the demo if you haven't already.)

Thats a bit disappointing...I've tried playing it at at lower res to make the text bigger but it does no favours for an already dated looking game. Surely adding larger UI options (or at least 1 more option for 1680x1050 and above) wouldn't be too difficult?

I appreciate that gameplay is far more important than graphics (UnderRail!!! :D ) but I'm just not getting into this. Ah well!

Any other gems like UnderRail Neil79 that I can get stuck in to? Gutted it won't be ready for a year, its just the sort of game I love.
