[Insert stars]Bioshock Infinite[/Insert Stars]

Played a couple more hours and now combat is a lot more frequent I can definitely tell that this is made by the same guys that brought us the first Bioshock rather than the guys at 2K Marin (Bioshock 2). I'm finding this is both good and bad, it's a nice familiarity but at the same time it does feel a little dated (so far).

Story wise I think they could have made more of a deal over when you pick up your first vigor, I'll never forget the scene when you picked up your first plasmid in the first game, this time around though it's like "meh I've got powers now, no biggie"

Totally agree Tom. I'm not very far into it but not got a clue whats going on story wise.

First 10 minutes of the game is stunning, drenched in detail.

I also feel a couple of elements just feel like they wanted to copy bits from Bioshock. Do Vigors even make sense? In Bioshock it was a community of scientists and inventors encouraged to work without the limits of morality. There doesn't seem to be any back story for Vigors like there is with Plasmids, and Salt? No clue.

How does this look on console? I'd heard the graphics are pretty poor compared to the PC version? (just trying to decide which one to get)

While Columbia does look impressive much like the gameplay the graphics certainly have that Bioshock 1 feel about them, I guess that could be interpreted as dated but it looks good enough for me (I cant comment on how it compares to being run on a hi-end PC as I haven't seen it running on one)

Well looking at your spec I'd suggest the PC version. Both console and PC versions look amazing due to the fantastic world created but the PC certainly is better visually and cheaper so with no multiplayer I think you should go PC.

Really struggling to like this :( Loved Bioshock, it was dark, gritty had a fear factor pretty much from the get go - it really made me feel like I was playing System Shock 2; there was an underlying uneasiness.

This... the only thing I can say is confusion.

I'm a few hours in and have no idea who I am, why I've come to this flying city, or even why it exists... the new plasmids have arrived without fanfare or explanation, and other than a brief bit of wow factor... it's starting to feel like a deflated balloon. If anything, I want to break the original out again....

Going to stick with it for now, but so far it's 3/10.

Just finished the game and I really like it :) Even if its not so dark all the time like Rapture was (Bioshock is my favourite game), I still like Columbia a lot! Also think the Elisabeth character is so well done.

I'm pretty annoyed that I managed to miss 3 Voxophones and 4 kinetoscopes/telescopes tho :(

Glad I read the thread first before asking if I should have played 1 and 2 first ;)

Tbh thinking about it I'm hoping the story in Infinite will end up tying the game to the original although that's by no means confirmed, just a hope I have :)

Haven't actually played this in days, need to get back on it!!!

About half way through this and it's okay - can see myself completing it ASAP and listing on Ebay tbh. It's not that it's not fun or well made, it just doesn't have the same atmosphere the first Bioshock had (underground, tight spaces, dark, cramped etc)

I'ma also playing on Medium and it's rather easy - died around 3/4 times so far.

I played a lot yesterday and tbh between this and Bioshock 2 (which I know was made by another team) Bioshock 1 looks more and more like a one off. Finding this extremely meh.

This is a very good game but pretty over rated I think. I just completed it then wiki-ed it to fully understand the story.

Don't think I'll bother with the DLC though. Just got to do 1999 mode. :)

Well have just finished this on hard and loved it from the off. I found the controls a bit difficult to start off with but other than some minor issues I really enjoyed the entire experience.

To me it went back more to the roots of gameplay of the first and although didn't have that tense and clostophobic atmosphere that the first had it has it's moments. Although I didn't get everything on the first run I will leave that for a second/third run.

Well I've almost completed it. I think I'm up to the last fight. I really wanted to complete it last night but it got to 1am and had work in less than 6 hours...

As a big big fan of the first two games I started the game excited. The first 5 minutes are beautiful, the set looks fantastic and really is great to see a developer going that extra mile with little touches littered everywhere.

Then I start to get a little disappointed, like Scort said - hardly any details to who I am, why I'm here and the plasmids are just presented to me without real explanation. There is a real lack of story for the first 30 minutes, just nothings really explained and I don't think the VoxRecorders add anything like they did in Rapture...

...However, a little further in - everything starts to click. The combat feels good. The levels feel much bigger and you get a sense of exploration like you did in the first Bioshock, so much so you find yourself constantly straying from the intended path. I'm playing on hard and it feels challenging, using the plasmids to effect and different weapons on different enemies. After you meet Elizabeth the story picks up and starts to make sense. As the game goes on you build up a relationship with your character and Elizabeth and have that thirst for pushing forward to see how the story and the characters develop.

Some of the places in Bioshock are a pleasure to explore, The Hall of Heroes being one of the most notable - Reminds me of Fort Frolic from the first.

Playing Infinite, I felt like that we need re-visit Rapture and base the story around just before 1959 so you get a idea of what rapture was really like before just like they've done with here.

Like I said, I've not fully completed it yet but already I'm looking forward to my second run through to mop up any achievements. I've already purchased the Season Pass. A fantastic game full drenched in atmosphere and style.

So far im probably half way through the game and it has somewhat confused me, it doesnt seem like a Bioshock game due to the fact that its set in another world so to speak. Theres really nothing dark or sinister about this compared to the previous 2.

Anyhow am enjoying the game so far but its nothing on the previous 2 Bioshocks, which imho were absolutely immense games.
