I bought a new PSU recently and also upgraded my graphics card, so I decided to strip it all out and start again

Case is a CoolerMaster CM 690

Before I start getting the cable ties out I have a few questions if anybody could help to answer please. Thanks

From my pictures
here is the case with all its gubbins

now, lets start with the PSU

as You can see its on the bottom of this case, the fan I have mounted up like so :

Is that correct or not ? (i do realise there is not a definite answer here, but whats best for me?)
currently got 1 fan out the back, 1 at the front

now this little fellar is for my front fan that can not reach the System fan socket as its right up the top, so ive added an extension to molex which in turn connects to my PSU and to my IcyBox

so my concerns are 1) the GPU is really long and its pulling on the socket as its so dam heavy, is this normal or should i zip tie it up a bit to take the wight off?

photos here if you can see it slanting :

and 2) Routing of cables, how do you think it all looks ?, i know its not all tied up yet
but for instance the CPU and Motherboard power cables :

There are always for and against arguments but i would end up droping something in the psu intake when tinkering.

Try it the othher way if you like see if theres any diffrence.

I usually keep the PSU facing up, I don't remember why I do this, but I know there's a good reason behind it!

For your header cables going into the mobo you can wrap them in electrical tape to cover up the last bit of the wires where they are multi coloured and also to save on cable ties by taping multiple wires together (Use same colour tape as shroud)

I keep mine facing up, as my case sits at the bottom of my desk in a way that the feet dont make contact with the bottom of the desk, so the bottom of the case sits on the bottom of the desk so there would be no air flow. (I'm sure I could have use less words to explain that)

I have dropped a screw in the PSU twice! Real PITA to get them out.

EDIT - I have a superflower PSU and always have it in eco mode. I'm pretty sure the fan have never actually come on, so I don't suppose it matters anyway. Maybe up is better due to convection lol.

im in a game currently and my GPU fan has not come on !
probably because I've cleaned it all out, got rid of all the dust and a new PSU (dust free)

PSU intake up or down can be argued many ways, but in your case (no pun) it is very close to GPU and if GPU is working hard and PSU fan starts running it will be trying to use the same airflow that your GPU is using .. and there is not enough space between them for the airflow to supply both properly.

As for the argument that case feet do not raise case high enough for adequate airflow area, using taller feet, putting case on a open frame with castor feet, setting feet on top of some big bottle caps or spray can caps, etc will all greatly improve airflow area to bottom vents.

Just to point out the ASUS card above my PSU is the sound card, the GPU is placed in the furthest slot away from the PSU
