Insomnia 62

I should have gone back in 2005 but transport was an issue. Sounded like a right blast.

Sounds like a load of commercial nonsense these days fronted by idiotic youtubers.

Your name rings a bell :). I think you'd be BD in IRC?? I'm pretty sure I played for NSR as well. Of course logs, screenshots and the like are long gone...
I would have been many things in IRC. BlackDeath, BeeDee, BD.....

What would you have been under in IRC? I think I still have logs believe it or not. One incarnation of the clan website is also partially stored on the waybackwhen machine.

Pretty sure we had some www. merc for us at one event due to numbers. My favourite was our suprise 10-0 win over 187 in one round. I think the first round was like 120-10 or something, but just to get a win against them given our clan rivalry was great. Especially to wipe the smugness of the face of Steff...

Do you ever speak with any of the old www lot? I think the last time I saw them was at a LAN at Mikey and Liz's place in about 2004 ish. Maybe before.

Depends on the year. I was Strider and then Struder. I think for the period we're talking it'd be the latter. If you do have logs then please excuse my former ~14 year old self!

I've got a feeling I might have merc'd in that game but don't hold me to it. Let me know if you find any logs or screenshots!

Oh wow... OK yes I remember you. You were indeed just a wee lad at the time. We had some great times though. Fancy that.

Just talking to Shagaire now about you... (yes we still game together after all this time).

Trying to remember how the whole Struder thing came about :D

Haha amazing, yeah I remember him too. Pretty sure we met at one of the i events, but yeah, I would have been 13 in 2000 so my memory's not that strong! Feel free to add me on Steam and PSN, name is as here. Play PUBG and Rocket League mainly.

It was Dan that incited the name change, he used to call me Srudel and then when the first Lord of the Rings film came out in 2001 everyone and their mum started calling themselves Strider/Aragorn so I changed it to a hybrid permanently. Nowadays I only really play with 'real life' friends and I think even Struder was taken on Xbox hence this real-name-based one now. You can still find me on Steam via [email protected] though :E.

well Im back from 4 days away. We did the lot, had fun, for the biggest gaming show in the uk...it seems rather amateurish at times. ******** where there but they where the only PC builders so to speak with some rather nifty VR driving set up with chair, wheel, gears the lot...only 15k for the set up and PC. we chuckled, took the free stuff. How come no OCUK?

Fortnite was the biggy this show, right in the middle of the hall, very loud all 4 days, loads of give aways. Razor stand was the next biggest and they where touting their razor gear most specifically the Razor phone 120Hz compared to most at 60Hz. They have a few games PUBG and Vain glory, the latter caught my eye to try out.

The VIVE stand was superb and seems much more me than the OR headset. VR games are really coming good.

Had fun playing Azul on the table top area and we had a go at the new Start trek table top game (rather like 40k but a lot less rules).

My boy enjoyed his xmas present. He walked away with a new mouse (Razor Basilisk), 9 new t shirts and loads of other stuff.

god its been years since I did an i-event, remember camping out with frost on the tent and ended up sleeping in the car. Also remember someones scooby (I think) getting the clutch burnt out in the car park area to much hilarity from the stands. ah the good old days [TAR]Barsteward

First time at an Insomnia BYOC but not my first LAN. It was good fun but the overpriced booze (nearly £50 for a crate of awful beer), screaming kids at 5am and lack of community feel is enough to put me off. I'll stick to smaller events like epic.LAN and StratLAN from now on.

An hour in the expo and I came away with a GT Omega racing chair + a real Karambit Elite CS:GO knife, which is err interesting.

No OcUK stand which was disappointing - I was looking forward to buying some new bits.

My first was i33 with a school friend at Newbury during the Halo 3 days. Last one was i33.

I wouldn't take my PC down to LAN, too afraid of it getting damaged and things being stolen.

It certainly has changed a lot and looks more like a showcase venue rather than a LAN. Nothing wrong with that of course.
