Hi BMW gurus,

My E46 compact is due its inspection II at 56k in the next couple of thousand miles.

The local dealer will do this for £319 which is not too bad, however a local specialist will most likely do it for cheaper.

The car has full BMW history from new, is it worth keeping this up or should I just go to the specialist considering its 9 years old now?

It's not worth messing about at that money, its good value.

It probably won't have a huge effect on its value but in a world of cheap BMWs run on a shoestring a full BMW history example stands out.

I wouldn't bother switching to a specialist as it probably won't get much cheaper. Supply your own oil to BMW and you'll save £30 or so on that.

I'd object. Dont like the way all the signs on the building are as close to BMW ones as they can get... you can easily think its a franchised dealer

Definitely agree with keeping it at BMW, the Value servicing they provide for cars of the E46 era is pretty close to the cost of a decent specialist so it makes sense keeping the history and you get piece of mind.

Good idea that BMW had with value servicing, must have made them a pretty packet seeing as they end up keeping good customers with them for a lot longer. Do any other brands offer this type of deal for their older cars?
