Inspector Wexford is dead

Kevin Whately has established himself as Lewis and Neil Dudgeon is finally coming good as DCI John Barnaby in Midsomer Murders. Stephen Tompkinson as DCI Banks is one to watch out for and so is Brenda Blethyn as Vera.
As to the greats well there is David Jason as DI Jack Frost, you can’t beat John Nettles as Inspector Barnaby and my recent favourite, Michael Kitchen as DCS Foyle in Foyle’s War but you’ll have to delve into the dvd collection for them.
We still watch repeats of Reg Wexford. George Baker really brought that rather stern character to life. If you don’t get a chance to see him then do read the Ruth Rendell books.
A sad loss.
RIP

I usually take in any tv detective drama's, but Vera I thought was appallingly bad, and Brenda Blethyn made it so. Usually a good actress, but can't stand her in it. Terrible, terrible show.
Shame that another good stalwart has died
