Install new Windows 8 system with SSD in IDE mode...

...tried to switch to AHCI and it won't boot.

I've installed all the mobo drivers.

Is it possible to do this or should I just reinstall?

Is it even worth it?

Normally, if you do this with Windows 7, it does this too. Safer to just install it properly with AHCI mode to begin with

windows 8 manager has the option to fix this
i guess it just makes the registry changes for u

anyway thought it might help, free app

Thanks everyone but that registry key doesn't seem to exist in Windows 8 and I can't find the part of Windows 8 manager that is supposed to do it.

Any further pointers?
