Install xp without SP2

Get originial Windows disc.
But why do you want pre-SP1?
As squiffy says. You'd need the original XP disc as the SP2 discs don't install SP2 after XP. Its the SP2 versions of files and programs written over the previous versions. They've merged XP with SP2 to get XP SP2 so you can't install one and not the other.

But why do you want this? To not have some of the SP2 features? If so, just nLite your XP cd and remove those features. That way you get SP2 functionality for what you want and remove what you don't want.

Its really an attempt to get my Sony camcorder to connect to my pc via firewire.
It seems that sp2 messed up the connection and so Im trying to see if I can get firewire connectivity using sp1.

Try doing a clear install using an XP SP2 disc. Its possible the problems you are experiencing are due to SP2 being installed over an existing installation. Tis always better to do a clean install.
BTW your pre-SP2 product key will still work
