Hi,

Strange one this.

I am trying to install Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and have downloaded it fine but when I am going through the installation it terminates it and says that I still have AVG software on the machine which KIS will not work with and asks to remove it and run the installation again.

I have uninstalled the AVG software and also deleted the AVG file manually from my hard drive and rebooted but it is still saying that I have the software on the machine and will not let me install KIS.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Have you checked the registry for any AVG entries?

Make a registry backup first, then check and clear any avg entries found.

IT will be asking for a name for the file export (the name you want to give the export", just call it Regback or something familar to you...

Try the MS link in my last post for more detailed instructions.

I have completed that and tried the installation again but it is still saying that AVG 8.0 exists on my machine.

Any other ideas would be appricated as I have no idea with this at all....

Now that you have backed up the reg, did you then search it and delete any references to avg and reboot?

Yes, it didn't bring up any references to AVG when I selected edit > find but I rebooted again anyway and retried the installation but the same error occured.

It did bring up some details when I searched AVG but these were to do with Adobe and nothing to do with AVG 8.0

To delete all registry keys with reference to AVG security product, run Registry Editor (regedit). Navigate to the following registry key branches:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVG
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG8Uninstall

Right click on AVG and AVG8Uninstall respectively, and select Delete to remove the AVG related registry keys. These are two known registry keys that installed by AVG, and should only be removed if there is no longer any AVG programs installed on the PC

Ooops, that was meant to be an edit of my other post.. :)
