apologies if its been covered but I couldnt find an answer so here goes!

I have an ASUS P5WD2E Premium Board and last year I built my system around it - its been great - its also my first use of SATA II drives/boards and my 2 x 150Gb Raptors were added at the time.

I now need to add 2 x 500GB drives as additional storage of files etc so my question is this . . .

My 2 x Raptors were installed on SATA 1 & SATA 2 and they were "jumpered" as Masters!

When I add the other two drives in the black sockets on the board - what do the jumper settings need to be - my guess is still Master!!!!

Khushy

Huh? There's no such thing as a "master" when dealing with SATA, it's one drive per cable/port. They may be listed as "4th IDE Master" or something similar in the BIOS but that's just a daft naming convention.

The jumper will be for something else - enabling NCQ, SSC or some other TLA.

Your new drives just need installed as they come, no extra jumper setting required.

As rpstewart says, if there SATA drives theres no need to configure them as they run on individual cables/ports ... presumably your new drives are also Sata?
