Win XP Installation trouble

Hey,

Just recently purchased my first DIY system.

GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit
Abit NV8 nForce4 4X (Socket 754) PCI-Express Motherboard
AMD Sempron 64 3000+ 1.8GHz (Socket 754) CPU
Sony CRX320E 52x32x52x16 CDRW/DVD Combi Drive
Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO² 256MB
Samsung SpinPoint P SP0812N 80GB ATA-133 8MB Cache

My problem is that after formatting the hard drive XP wont install fully and misses out .dll files. Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems?

Thanks.

are you getting any error messages relating to these DLL files during install or is the problem only apparently once it's installed and starts up XP for the first time?

During the install. Would it run without these files?

Will try one stick of RAM tonight.

Thanks for the replys people. :D

good you got it sorted out. smelly hard drive is never good :)

funnily enough I'm having the very same problem now. I'm installing WinXP from a CDR I just made from an ISO. For some reason it was unable to boot from the CD. Tried another CD drive which it would boot from but had trouble reading some files. So in desperation tried a really old DVD drive and it is installing a treat now!!

So, my next suggestion would have been try a different CD drive :)
