ok so i popped in the live cd last nite, although it seemed a bit point and clicky much like windows i was expectin it to be a bit more different, but before installing theres few questions.

during installation it asks for your windows login etc *** exactly is this for?
i have a spare 2.1gb on my primary partition and 14.7gb on the extended partition. when istalling i can either choose manual or largest free space, i am assuming it will choose the 14gb?

Each distro is different, Ubuntu is more for the new user and tries to make things a bit more "user friendly". Other distro are a bit more geeky/nerdy, where it is more command line orientated.

Ubuntu asks for your windows user name and password as it will copy your windows settings to Ubuntu. You don't have to do this if you don't want to.

What version implemented this? That's kinda cool.

Cool, didn't know about that. What does it actually import? Not that it bothers me, I keep Windows well away from Linux... As in different hard drive, different computer :p

It usually asks for a choice of hard drive for me, but dont use the Manual partitioning.. its unnecessary.
