installing 2x 8600 GT (noobish question)

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2007/08/14/radeon_hd_2600_xt_vs_geforce_8600_gt/1

It looks like the 8600GT has an edge over the 2600XT.

On the other hand as long as you're using XP or 7 then it's fine to run both cards together with full driver packs for both cards.
Excellent link thanks. My main graphics reason for choosing between these is running a couple of RC flight sims. Neither are really major in their demands on gfx. My preliminary interpretation of that comparison is that these cards should be effectively equal for these sims. I think it's then definitely worth it to try the 2600XT as one of the sims seems to have a slight issue with vertical sync which ATi cards seem to handle better (only in the case of this particular sim).

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on this comp. I have aero turned off completely all the time which seems to solve the Vista gremlins (I've had no issues after turning off aero). But you're saying that Vista won't be able to handle full installs of both cards?

Cheers

I think the problem only crops up if you have Aero enabled as it requires all cards to use the same driver. So as long as you have that disabled then it should be fine hopefully.
