ok so i got my new quad core, a massive mofo fan and a extra 2gb of ram from ocuk today, installing the cpu and fan went fine (well except i needed to update my bios which took a hell of a long time seeing as i don't have a floppy, but got it done anyways)

my problem is the ram, my comp detects 3gb of ram but not the 4th stick for some reason, on the slot that doesn't appear to be working on the mobo, it doesn't look like the ram is seated fully at the top, the little clip isn't in line with the others, but it seems like if i push any harder it'll break my mobo.

any advice is appreciated

EDIT: damn beaten to it. XD

you need a 64bit OS.

Windows x32 only recognises 3 or 3.2gb iirc.

Whereas windows x64 can recognise a much larger amount (not exactly sure how much but I think it was something like 120gb).

what OS u running? I'm sure XP only reconises 3gb max.

32-bit can recognise upto 4GB of ram, including vram. But one program can only use upto 2GB because of the virtual address system.
