Installing a Hard Drive

Had two Seagate 160gb Barracuda's fail on me. Having taken them back to the shop, I've been given 2 Maxtor 160gb's instead. IDE only... :confused:

Anyway I've got them both fitted on the mobo, but although both are recognised on the bios, only one is registering in windows.

Any Idea's??? :confused:

Send them back, I wouldn't accept Maxtor drives. Where's my Maxtor brick picture?

They're really reliable drives. Every dead drive I've had has been a Maxtor (well except for Conners but they were rubbish and got them free anyway)

Other people think so too.

TBO, I'm so cheesed off with the shop, I just want something to work over Chrimbo...Then I plan on taking your advice and going Duo...

Got to go skiing first and see if there are any pennies left...

Are you able to help with the lack of drives on XP problem...?

Open disc management and activate the drive. Then partition and format. Although personally I would rip out the Maxtors and send them back.

What do you mean "took my advice on duo"?

Checked master/slave jumpers?

Sorry if I'm being dim, where is the disc management. I've had a look at the device manager etc and can't see how to do it. Or is it in the bios...?

Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, then disc managment.
