I just received a new laptop hard drive although I am not completely sure I bought the right one!

The old one I took out looks a little different on the connection side. The old one has sort of wide flat pins whilst the new hard drive I just received looks just like a regular IDE?

It's a dell laptop by the way can anyone clear this up? Do I need some sort of adapter?

Actually after looking at one in auction I'm thinking the end must come off the old drive and slip on the new one. Bit of a weird way of doing it rather than dell just using a standard connection.

Yeah all Dell's have that thing on them...blasted things.

Just pop the old off and that one on.

HD upgrade or dead HD?

It's a standard across all the Latitude range and probably the entire Dell laptop range. Just be careful when taking the cover off the old and putting it on the new drive as it's very easy to bend the pins!
