Ive just installed 2 sets of red AC ryan cathodes in my case.

As there wasnt much light to work with - I had it all connected and was mounting the switch in the back of the case.

Whilst doing this I accidently shorted the switch, it must have caught or made contact with the case, then POOF the machine turned off! :(

The red light came on at the back of the coolmaster PSU, Im guessing that it shutdown due to the power surge.

I am probably being silly but I hope I havent cuased any long term damage to either the PSU or core.

PSU is releltively good and brand new, Coolermaster M620.

The chances are you PSU would have some built in surge protection so you may be fine with the psu, have you tried disconnecting the cathodes and turning the pc on?

Disconnecting the 2 pin plugs going into the invertor may cuase a spike, this is not somethng I would recommend.

These Cathodes are the ones from Mr Ryan, I wouldnt want to use cheap ones, Ive read too many horror stories about the invertors killing the pc.

On a side note they are ment to be red they seem more pink.

definatly lesson learned in the future I`ll unplug it and lug the machine underneath a bright lamp.

JB I did not plug the wires in whilst the power was on. I was simply positioning it and using the sticky pads to place them around the case.

Ive connected fans, to molex connectors before while the power was on, and this has never cuased any problems, countless times, with exception to connecting stuff to the mainboard. I`ll always power off then.

Aye, but there`s your own personal safety to invoke here man, to hell with replacement parts .... there`s only one waveydave ;)
