Hi

Ive just installed an ECS KV2 Lite mobo into a system and when i adjusted the bios and selected save and exit bios, the screen will now only get to the Verify DMI Pool data and wont go any further. Anyone know whats causing this as i need the system working asap!

Thanks

ive been looking into it and it will boot off of anything other than the HDD. The HDD is found in the BIOS (the setting are all set to "auto") but once on the screen that comes down as the system boots (cant remember the name of it), the HDD is not shown.

Ive changed the sata cable, the power cable and the sata channel still to no avail,

any help would be well appreciated as its driving me mad now!

Basically the HDD is messed up (technical term, you know!) in some way.

Are you running XP?

If so, boot into repair console from the install CD and if you can, try the following;

CHKDSK - look for errors and let it fix any it finds.
FIXBOOT

This may fix it. If it doesn't do it again and try FIXMBR - be aware though that if the Master Boot Record needs fixing you may well lose all the data on the disk.

The other possibility is to put in a second drive and boot off that. You will almost certainly find that all the data is on the original HDD, but the boot/MBR sectors are corrupt so it won't boot. You can then copy the data over and then reformat and re-install windows.

If Windows tools don't work then you'll need a HDD tool like Partition Magic to reset it.

Thanks WJA96! I thought it must be that, I reformatted the hard drive on the system it was being installed on at it all went fine!

Thanks again, well chuffed now!

Well, if you consider how often everyone tells me I've got it wrong, I must be due a right answer eventually! :rolleyes:

I'm glad you're up and running.
