installing front usb on mobo

They are for front USB ports, you should have a cable from the front of your case with a cable that plugs into there (hopefully labelled USB). It will only go in one way, due to the missing pin. You don't need your power supply for the front USB port its takes power through the main motherboard power connector.
 
VCC = pin1
Port- = pin3
port+ = pin5
GND = pin7

Its the four pins along the top of the connector.

Do the wires have any colours? (red, white, green, black)?

yes the wires to have colours stulid but I cant remember what they are
(im not infront of the computer)
I do know vcc is red and ground is black thou
 
Well I have a USB connector in front of me.

Black, Green, White, Red

Thats how it looks connected to the four pins along the top as viewed from the bottom of the board.
