I need to replace my integrated dishwasher.

Install prices are around £115, which is considerable in comparison to the cost of the machine. Looking at a Hotpoint Hydrofroce H8I - They seem to be very quiet, which is what I am looking for along with a delay start function.

Am I missing anything, or is it not just a case of unscrew the facia, screw facia onto new machine. Slide out old machine, disconnect water and electirc, connect water an electic to new machine?

I am perfectly capable of doing the above, but is there something I am missing which makes this a £115 job which I need to consider?

Thanks

Can be a bit of faff getting the door front to neatly align but wouldn't say it's particularly difficult/awkward.

Do you have an Ikea kitchen? if so, would be easier to fit an Ikea dishwasher since there door fronts are ~70mm taller than most other kitchens.

No it’s an old random kitchen, standard size washer.

I think I’ll just give it a go and if it all goes wrong I’m sure I can get a plumber to do it cheaper than £115

Seems to be the going rate as both curry’s and the local electronics shop have quoted me the same price.

the only hassle is getting the lining up of the door which can vary depending on models. to actually fit dishwasher is easy as anything. Screw in the water feed, push fit the drain and plug in socket. bit of twisting feet to adjust height and bobs your mothers brother. if you're vaguely competent DIY then I'd save the money personally

Outside of getting the door lined up, it's a 5 minute job. I put one in, not replaced, in about 10 minutes.

I've always done them myself and have very limited DIY skills. Getting the door aligned can be fiddley. Cutting the baseboard is sometimes needed but I've never had to do it.

Door opening and skirt clearance can be an issue, we had to cut ours. But it’s a pretty straightforward job.
agreed, this is likely to be the most difficult part of installation. Along with (possible) getting the old one out, depending on how much clearance you have ...... be sure to level it off when you've installed it, too

The fact that it's a replacement instead of a new installation probably makes it easier. On this basis I'd follow the advice of everyone else and DIY.

I wouldn't drive to someone's house and risk an awful job / breaking something / getting water on their laminate floor and being told I owe them a new one for £115. Seems like a reasonable fixed price to me. The profit is obviously in there.

I found this too - washing machine install is <£30, but dishwasher is £100+. Never made much sense to me.

As others have said, aligning the door is the trickiest part. Keep an eye out for free installation offers though (which is what I ultimately ended up getting - despite being fully prepared to install it myself). Disposing of the old dishwasher would have been a hassle too.

Replaced mine of friday, pretty straight forward, use template provided and door dropped straight in, level with next cupboard, happy days
