Installing my rig

3D Mark would give you a good idea, go for one of the later ones, like 06, so you can compare both CPU and GPU scores.

The bleeping is hard to say, if there is a problem during POST I don't know why it is not stopping. Assuming an AMI/Award BIOS then 1 long, 2 short beeps means a video error, so at a guess, I'd check it is seated firmly in the slot and the cables are secure. Can't be much more help than that I'm afraid.

No problem, I'll take a look at the graphics card again and some of the other components to make sure they're in right.

I'll get 3D Mark if I can and post my scores, hopefully people can confirm it's performance for me.

EDIT: Also, my computer really shouldn't stop responding during decoding and burning to a CD...the processor and RAM should be able to do it easily.

What do you mean by stops responding? Freezes and you have to hard reboot?

Sorry for the late response...

Yep, computer stopped completely...managed to do it in the end but my brother and I had to fiddle with the Video file a lot to get Nero to burn it all the way, may have just been a problem with Nero though.

Another query, my computer seems to vary in speed, sometimes it's very fast, sometimes it seems to be quite average, maybe it's the speedstep. I got a score of about 4650 in 3dMark06 all at stock, I was told it's a decent stock score but I'm not totally convinced.

It plays GTA:SA perfectly but FEAR has some troubles especially with flickering lights (it makes the screen flicker, not just the light-in-game). Also, it varies in framerate. Also, When I used auto detect computer settings it put most of the CPU settings on 'medium' with high-end options off, the graphics settings were slightly more optimistic. This may be a confusion with the fact that the game may not consider the CPU faster than it's clockspeed of 2.4Ghz (which it supposedly is).

Anyway, here's my voltages, fan speed and temps in EasyTune5:

I assume if they're all 'the norm' then there can't be a problem? (if they are).

The auto-detect ... might help you too. {snippy}

Ahar, thanks for all the info!

The game problem doesn't bother me much, the framerate problem is hardly noticeable, it's just the light flickering thing which is annoying!

I think the fans are thermal controlled as you suggested, afterall, the temps are low.

I'll try that task manager thing too, sounds useful. Which core should be favoured for games? Does it matter which?

EDIT: Is the system temp the motherboard temp or is that the average of all the temperature gauges on the motherboard?
