I'm just about to install the 160gb HDD in my sig.

just wondering, if I don't want to run in raid, can i just plug it in and not really tinker around with it much. I mean, I'll check the BIOS when I first boot up and then format it but then after that will everything be pretty much "plug-and-play"?

thanks,

It is unfortunate your signature isn't there for this query then :)

However whether SATA or IDE if you don't want to setup a Raid array then yes it should be as simple as checking the options are correct in bios then formatting in Windows.

What's funny is that Replacement sig was slapped on mine and it's actually bigger than my "illegal" Sig was. lol

Anyway. Yeah plug it in and windows should see it. if it's 160gig it's gotta be IDE or SATA so provided your not running IDE and need a SATA driver for the new disk then your ready to go.

cool, thank you. yeah, my current HDD is just the 200GB version of the same seagate model so I'm hoping it should be fine. I might look into raid but I don't know if it's worth

yeah, I added an extra line to my sig and I think it crossed the threshold. I thought the rules were just about animated gifs and inappropriate material so I'll have to think of something else.

thanks.
