well i got my replacement PSU today and i installed it myself bear in mind i have zero/nil experience what so ever in this kind of thing so to say i was worried was an understatement but any way i cracked on

i looked at all the cables and it was pretty much strait forward all was labeled i just had to match it up to the parts, there was 1 worrying moment tho when i plugged all connections into the mobo, and powered on to see if it worked but there was a high pitch squeal, turns out i needed to have the gfx card plugged in also, with the gfx card pluged in i turned it on again and i got the disc boot failure so i no its working :D i finshed connecting the molexs to the fans and the sata cables to the HDD and powered on and it all booted as normal :D

all in all it was relativity painless and quite strait forward and it saved me £40 by doing it myself, i nearly posted on OcUK for a lil help but i got there it gives me confidence now so i wont panic as much if anything like this should happen again

yeah so its fixed and i can enjoy CoD4 again now :p

Servicing your computer yourself really isnt as difficult as most people think. Well done and welcome to the club.

On a bit of a picky note you might want to tweak your sig a bit. Zefan (official sig mod) will get grumpy if its more than 4 lines!

PK!

Niceone ;)

It seems daunting at first but take your time and your be fine, computers aren't massively hard to put together - but its scarey when you think about the money involved and the electricity.

No matter how many times - there's always , for me anyway, the two thoughts

Will it work?
and
What have I forgotten?

The squeal was 'new' to me after forgetting to plug in after installing new cooler on gpu - scared the living .... out of me and it's amazing how such a noise just 'blanks' you for a few sec's when heard for the first time.

I just dived for the power switch! It wasnt on a new build, but i was tidying cables and forgot to plug it back in. I have excellent reactions to anything like that.
