INSTALLING PSU

install the fan with the exhaust fan facing down-wards correct, so it blowing hot air directly out the case, not into it!? it only has 1 exhaust and the other side is just solid.... i have saw 2 build with either the fan facing upward... i have a CM690 ADVANCED case so there is a platform?
did i do wrong or right?

The PSU fan draws air in and exhausts out the back, you can mount pretty much were you like, but I would, ideally mount so the PSU draws fresh air in.

Edit: What psu are you using?

I hate cable doing cable management as well, I tend to change my mind about 10 times whilst doing it!! :eek:

Another question RJC do you recommend on the ATX boards using the full 8 pin power connector, or just using the 4 pin power connector?

lol. you wouldnt need to undo all your cable setup to turn the psu around, just undo the rear screws and twist the psu around and screw it back in.

But yeah, +1 to what RJC said, the fan on the psu draws in the air.
If you having it facing down then the psu can draw in cool air and cool the psu better, having it facing up will make it draw in the warm air from within the case.
The cooler your psu, the better, better lifespan of the capacitors inside.

i would actually because the wire would be restricted.... if i move it around the wire wouldn't be in the complete opposite direction to the cable-management area in the back on the case... dude... i have 6 fans in my case... +1 for the graphics card +1 for the CPU honestly having it upwards... aint a biggie

in my 690, i have the psu drawing cool air from underneath the case i.e. fan on the bottom

Use the 8 pin.
