Hiya people.

I'm new to linux really and am slowly finding my way round things with a little help from tutorials and guides but have just got stuck trying to install Pure-ftpd onto my Suse box.

I downloaded the tar.gz file and unzipped it to my desktop, where i ran the make and make install. I now have some pure-ftpd programs in my /usr/local/sbin folder but dont know where the conf file is and also all the tutorials say goto /etc/pure-ftpd/...... i dont have this location :S

I try to connect to the server having created a group and a user but im getting authenctication errors and also an error about standalone server and address in use.

I really need this ftp server to be working asap so any help would be very much appreciated :)

Thanks in advance.

Hi

i would image that pure ftp is inclded with suse, look for a program called "yast" once in yast the should be a utility on the first screen to add software, once in there do a search for pure ftp or just ftp and it should hopefully be listed.

A neat program to help with setting up systems is webmin accessible from any machine through a web browser :)

cheers
Deano
