so when i was building my pc i didnt have a floppy drive to hand and therefore at the time couldnt install the drivers for my new sata hd. i had a spare ide drive so decided to just do the install on that.

well now i cold do with the extra hd space and i want to start using my sata drive. thing is how? can i just install the drivers know i have a fully working install of xp or do they have to be added at the during the original installation?

if its any help i have a Abit IP35-E, searched for the drivers on the net (if they even exist) and cant find anything.

any help you guys can give would be grately appreciated. thanks!

1) If you configure the SATA controller to run in legacy mode then you don't need drivers at install time.

2) If you've installed the Intel chipset drivers within XP then you have all the necessary drivers now anyway.

Therefore just chuck the SATA drive in and it should be picked up, although you will still have to partition and format it in Disk Management before it'll be given a drive letter.
