Has anyone got any experience in this? I did it a couple of days ago, and to be honest I had to apply an absolutely shocking amount of pressure to get it to clip on both sides of the retention bracket on the motherboard. Doing it one side or the other was simple but I had to press down really heavily for the other side, and then turning the black lever to finally secure it was extremely hard.

I was practically wetting myself while doing it, I was sure I was going to crush the CPU or snap the motherboard! I would have followed the instructions to the letter, only there weren't any (letters that is), just a couple of drawings on the leaflet.

Is there a cunning technique to doing it more easily with less risk of damage? Did I do it totally wrong? Is the AM2 heatsink badly designed? Or are all CPU HSF's really hard to install? I'd be horrified if I had a £800 X6800 conroe and I had the same ordeal with installation!

Just basically after some hints or tips for the future I suppose! ;)

I had the same problem mate. Found it easier tho to clip the bit on with the black arm first, then using a flat end screwdriver to lever the other end on before pushing the black arm round to secure it.

One idea that came to mind would be to remove the retention bracket from the mobo (possible?), attach the cooler to that, and then screw the bracket back on...not sure if that would cause problems or if it's even possible, but it sounds a lot less painless.
