Installing win7 from USB ?

Hi Folks

Fresh win7 64b install coming up, I would like to try it from a usb stick if its not too complicated.

Been pointed to this.. http://www.joshcellsoftwares.com/2011/10/winusb-maker-windows-setup-to-usb.html

Not had a chance to look into it, Is it the right tool for the job ?

Only want to copy the contents off the win7 disk onto usb stick and boot the setup from there.

Any problems i will run into ?
I presume its faster from a usb stick ? (my reason for trying it)

Easy just use the MS usb install software from here:
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Its the fastest method of installing.

Just used this an hour ago to install Windows 7 on a laptop. Worked without any trouble

IIRC with a W7 disk you can just copy and paste the entire contents of the DVD onto a usb and it just works. No need for any special utilities!

indeed. and it also works great with windows vista, 2008, 2008 r2 and even the windows 8 developer preview.

This is of course the easiest and simplest way of doing it... obviously!

I've yet to try this but good to know. M$ tool didn't work for me last time I tried it but wish I had of done this!

It works perfectly fine.

I've used it both with an NTFS and FAT32 formatted flash drive. Works fine.

I remember Windows 98 could be installed from another partition on the hard drive... that was excellent!! With you could do that with Windows 7.
