Installing Windows 7 over a network. Would my method work?

The laptop I want to install W7 on does not have a functioning DVD drive which means that I have to install W7 some other way. Could I do it by running the DVD off another computer on my network and then installing it from there? AFAIK W7 copies the necessary files from the DVD onto the HD while still booted into the previous version of Windows before rebooting and going into the install properly....

What do you think?

No your method won't work. Your best bet would be to install Windows 7 via USB stick if the DVD drive ion the laptop is broken.
