hi there,

i want to install win 7 on my asus x59gl laptop but there are no drivers for it on the manufacturers website so I am a bit sceptical despite being eager to try out win 7

would you think its safe to proceed? or will i get intermittent faults and random restarts and all that ugly stuff?

pls advise..

thanks in advance

Not all of them, no, but then as said you will likely find it will install most hardware straight off anyway.

i went from xp to 7 and after a fresh install i was amazed that i was able to play games like world of warcraft without even downloading the latest ati drivers :). was pleased :).

i installed win7 on my sisters pc last week and it's quite old (epox motherboard) after the install there were about 5 drivers needed, so i thought i would have to spend hours finding drivers but used windows update and it found all of them even the old winfast tv card thats about 5 years old now.

i can't say if it will be the same for your laptop but it's well worth trying, windows 7 rocks even on old pc's, my sisters pc is an athlon 64 3500+ single core no overclocking, 1Gb of ram and an old geforce 5600ultra and she said it was as fast as xp, not sure about that but it was so much faster than i thought it would be

I installed Win 7 on my Dell laptop the other week...the only thing I needed to install was an Nvidia driver for the graphics card.
